On Monday, Samad Zamanzad Qavidel, referring to the new national honey bee census of 1401, said: The total honey production of the province in 2018 was 15 thousand 17 tons, which has reached 15 thousand 676 tons this year.
He added: This increase in production is due to the modification of the structure of old modern hives and the use of open-floor hives, the use of imported and high-yielding hybrid queens, the replacement of native hives with modern ones, and the increase in the knowledge of operators due to the holding of training classes and conferences.
He stated that the number of beekeepers and people working in East Azerbaijan apiaries is 17,561 in total, he said: The number of native colonies in this year’s census is 176,520, which has decreased by 18% compared to the census of 2018. According to the promotional recommendations and training classes held among the operators of this area, the removal and replacement of modern beehives is expected. It replaced native hives.
He mentioned the number of modern colonies in the annual census as 1,105,868 and said: East Azarbaijan Province ranks first in the country in terms of the number of beehives, second in terms of honey production, and first in terms of processing and packaging.
Deputy Director of Livestock Production Improvement of Jihad Agricultural Organization of the province, stating that the average production of honey in local hives has not changed in the census of this year compared to the census of 2018, he said: But in modern hives, the average production of honey has increased from 11.94 kg in 2018 to 13. It has increased by 46 kg, which is a significant figure.
He added: In other bee products, a significant increase in production can be seen compared to the census statistics of 2018, which can be expected to increase the knowledge of the operators, the economicization of the production of other beehive and honey products, and the beekeepers’ view of leaving the beehive as a single product in the coming years.
